We our customers year-round, but what better time than around Valentine’s Day to show it with a treat or 2!   In addition to some goodie bags to be picked up in our offices, we have plenty of other celebrations going on.  Jonathan at Space Mart in Midlothian, VA is manning the griddle and serving up flap-cakes every Saturday this month.  Brian and Ben at Hatfield Depot in Hatfield, PA will be braving the elements on Saturday, February18th to grill up some tasty treats for anyone who wants to pretend it’s summer.  Just up the road from them at Space Mart in Souderton, PA, the gang will be serving lunch on Saturday, February 25th!  Check out your local store for special discounts on merchandise, too.

(We also love Wikipedia.  For an interesting, yet totally unromantic history of Valentine’s Day, take a peek:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentine’s_Day)

Remember:  We collect food year-round for area food banks.  If you’re driving by and want to drop off your canned goods – we’ll get them where they need to go.

Space Mart Employees and Customers Share the Holiday Spirit

barglow

Space Mart Self Storage, with 8 locations and thousands of excellent customers, is once again helping to make the holidays cheerier for those in need.  All of our locations put on drives to collect toys and food in the communities where our employees and customers live and work.

Some of the agencies our employees and customers gave generously to this year include the South Jersey Food Bank, Toys for Tots, Salvation Army (Coats for Kids), Food Bank of the State College Area, New Hope Ministries (food pantry) and Manna on Main (food bank.)  Many of our managers have made it a priority to work with their local food banks as a drop-off point year-round because hunger is not a seasonal event and we’re in a position to see a lot of generous, giving people.

Space Mart’s managers are energetic, creative and caring people who went even further and got involved this year with animal adoption/rescue agencies; took cookies to nursing homes/sang carols for the residents and one of our managers helped arrange for the payment of a customer’s Christmas lay-away.

Thank you to all the generous people who gave of themselves this year to help Space Mart help others in need!

Not everyone’s cup of tea, but it works for me

barglow

I began coaching youth sports years ago when my now oldest son was 3.  First up soccer, a sport I knew very little about but that seemed to be the place all kids start to learn about team work these days.  When the organization asked for volunteer coaches, I jumped at the chance not really knowing what I was getting myself into, but I thought it would help my son get out there on the field.  Next thing I know I have 12 3, 4 and 5 year olds calling me “Coach.”  Chaos ensued that first season, but with the help of the 20+ new friends/parents I had acquired we held it together.

That summer my son wanted to play flag football.  Here is something my wife wishes I knew less about!  I immediately leapt at the chance to coach.  Magically more chaos ensued that season, but at the end 20+ new friends and a side effect of new customers.  I was starting to hear referrals from new customers at work about how they heard about us because I happened to coach their neighbor’s son or daughter.  This got me thinking!

Next up was basketball!  This time though I decided to stick some company magnets on my truck and started to wear my work polo to practice.  This was just for the chance that one of the other families from one of the other teams practicing or playing might see our logo.  BAM!!  Suddenly there was more talk and new customers at work because of our involvement in youth sports.

Sure, I spend time going to Chamber of Commerce events, cold calling and other networking functions to help grow my business.  Getting involved with community is where I feel we THRIVE! What started off as a hobby and a way to trick my son to get involved with sports has now become my BEST marketing tool without even knowing it!

Our customers enjoy sitting in our lounge, with a coffee, while they wait for their delivery.  Time and time again, business customers rave about our welcoming lobby and Wi-Fi access, while they wait for their deliveries to arrive.

Space Mart is pleased to provide this service for our customer base. Ask your manager about storing your merchandise in Climate Control.  Some customers enjoy the climate controlled atmosphere; not only for storing their items, but utilizing the temperature controlled buildings to organize their business merchandise. Being out of the elements and in a lighted, secure building is another advantage of climate controlled storage.

Space Mart has 24 hour gate access, but it is best to receive your delivery during the
9am-6pm work week.  Check with your individual manager about a courtesy call when your delivery arrives, or any paperwork, which you may need to pick up, or sign; acknowledging your packages arrived.

Don’t forget to plan ahead, and notify your manager if you plan on receiving a delivery at a
Space Mart location.

Want to receive deliveries at Space Mart?

Remember These 3 Things

  1. Check with your manager about specific details? Hours of operation.

(Deliveries to office?)

2.Do you want a courtesy call or email?  Will you be there to sign for the delivery?

3.Request your full name and Storage Unit # on your Delivery Label

Communication is the most important element to make this work for both parties. Please check with your individual manager; and sit back and relax, as we take another item off your to-do list.

Do I need Climate Control Storage?

barglow

How to Determine If You Need a Climate Control Storage Unit?

Space Mart Self-Storage has Climate Controlled or Temperature Controlled storage. These indoor units are ideal for family heirlooms, business equipment, home décor and peace of mind. Space Mart managers keep a daily log of the building temperature, while monitoring the humidity level.

Our Climate Controlled storage units are physically located inside a secure building, with
24 hour access. Space Mart is committed to providing you a clean, secure, temperature controlled environment for your items.

Scan the list below to determine if your items benefit from temperature controlled storage.

First:
Let’s talk about what you are storing.

Household Goods

  • Wood/Leather furniture
  • Antiques & heirlooms
  • Arts & Craft supplies
  • Specialty clothing
  • Paintings & fine art
  • Photographs & camera equipment
  • Musical Instruments
  • Collections of  DVDS, CDS, vinyl records,
  • Televisions & stereos
Business Inventory

  • Computers/flats screen monitors
  • Video/audio equipment
  • Medical/Electrical Machinery
  • Restaurant inventory
  • Business /Medical/Tax Documents
  • Marketing Products & supplies
  • Business Trade Show displays
  • Pharmaceutical  & medical supplies
  • Seasonal/Holiday inventory

Second: How long will you be storing?  Our leases are “month to month.”

Are you in the military?  Being deployed?  Going out to sea?

If you are deploying with the military for 6-24 months, and have some of the items listed in the above list. Consider temperature controlled storage.

Remember your items will go through a full cycle of the seasons, and may benefit from a
constant temperature. Again, always visit Space Mart before you rent, and have
the manager give you a tour of the climate controlled building.

Just need storage for a month or two? If you plan on storing for 30-60
days, and your items are not temperature sensitive, then you may benefit from a
drive up storage unit.

*(Are you storing a motorcycle or car?) Most likely your vehicle will not fit in the climate
controlled storage building.

Receive Deliveries for your business?

Many business customers receive daily deliveries to Space Mart. These include
marketing materials, medical supplies, or electronic items. Space Mart is
pleased to provide this service for our customer base.  These customers enjoy the climate controlled atmosphere; not only for storing their items, but often use the temperature
controlled buildings to inventory or organize their merchandise.  Being out of the elements and in a lighted, secure building is another advantage of climate controlled storage.

Third:             Where are you located?

Climate controlled storage is a viable option during the humid months or summer months
in the south, and during the cold winters in the north. Remember! What time
of year
you will be storing your items, what you will be storing,
and the length of time your personal or business effects will be in storage

Fourth:  Will it give you peace of mind?

A picture is worth a thousand words!

Often customers choose climate controlled storage after taking a tour of the
facility, and speaking with the manager. A picture is worth a thousand words,
so please visit a Space Mart location near you, and pop your head into a
temperature controlled building.

We want you to have peace of mind when you store with Space Mart Self-Storage.

Space Mart Offers FREE MOVE-IN Truck

barglow

SpaceMart understands that when moving a house, apartment or dorm room you can feel overwhelmed. Moving is exhausting on your body, spirit and sometimes your personal budget.  Our managers are trained to actively listen to our customer’s concerns and challenges. We set ourselves apart from local competition by offering a “FREE MOVE-IN TRUCK.”

Saving customers about $50-$75 on moving day!

But reserve it fast, and have the following documentation:

  1. Driver’s License

 2.  Contact phone number (mobile number of driver)

 3. Current auto insurance card (mandatory)

 4. Credit Card

The above items are mandatory for truck rental, and are for your safety and protection.  Space Mart reserves the right to not rent our truck, when a customer or potential customer cannot present a valid driver’s license or insurance card. Now that you know about our Truck, Let’s cover a few ground rules.

First   Please inquire at the front desk, or on the phone about the availability.

Space Mart has hundreds of customers, and receives calls daily concerning our truck. New  customers are given priority, and encouraged to reserve the truck when they rent a unit. Have proper documentation with you when you arrive.  We want to make your “move in”  day smooth and hassle-free.

Second   Reserve the truck by providing a copy of your driver’s license, current auto insurance, and major credit card.

Make sure you write down the time and date of your reservation to avoid missing your commitment. If you need to make special arrangements outside of office hours, now is the time to get those details settled. Show the manager your current auto insurance card, and call your company to make sure you are covered when driving a truck. We want this trip to be safe and smooth, and you don’t want any surprises on moving day.

NEXT   Please arrive on time for your rental. It takes 15 minutes for the necessary paperwork and inspection. When you arrive on reservation day, walk around the truck with the manager. It is critical that you spend time inspecting the tires, lights, side mirrors, dolly, gas gauge and mileage. A pre-rental inspection will be documented and any issues revealed. It is a safety issue for you as well, as you don’t want to be responsible for another driver’s prior neglect. Ask for assistance with the ramp or other truck features. Don’t forget to ask any other pertinent questions related to your rental; such as where to drop off the keys, and emergency roadside numbers.

Remember  Arrive promptly on the day you have Space Mart’s truck scheduled, so the manager can help you fill out the paper work, and you don’t have to rush.

Finally   When using the truck please proceed with caution. Stack heavy items, like washers, dryers, couches and chairs in the back (first items in) and save the lighter items to be loaded in last. Be cognoscente of loading too many heavy items on one side of the truck. A balanced truck is much safer and easier to drive. Pace yourself and take it easy. Always break down beds, tables, and exercise equipment. Stack heavy boxes on the ground, and lighter items on top. Creatively use pillows, mattresses, towels and other cushions to aid in protection during transition. The truck does come equipped with moving blankets to wrap your valuables, and a dolly for appliances or other heavy furniture.   When you are finished, don’t forget to gas up the truck, turn in the receipt, and return to Space Mart on time.

Space Mart is dedicated to helping take some of the stress out of moving day. Let our FREE Move-In Truck be the part of the solution for you. By planning ahead, asking questions, and working safely, Space Mart can be your moving day partner.

Spring Cleaning Solutions with Space Mart

barglow

Spring Cleaning is a yearly tradition in many households. We clean our homes from top to bottom, sweeping out the “Winter Blues”, and welcoming spring smells through open windows. Spring is a time to clean up the back yard, the shed, and remove old items from the garage.

Out with the old and in with the new” as the old adage says. We purchase summer clothes and new patio furniture, attend garage sales, and store away our winter toys and sweaters. If you anticipate needing your winter items next year, and don’t want to throw them out, consider storing them with Space Mart until you’re ready to use them again.

Let us become part of your Spring Cleaning Solution. We have multiple size storage units, month-to-month leases, and a FREE truck to assist you.  Our friendly on-site managers are standing by ready to answer questions about unit sizes and prices, so you can get the best fit for your needs.

With the onset of warmer weather, many customers bring their motorcycles or watercraft out of winter hibernation. Take advantage of specials by storing them with Space Mart during spring and summer months. With 24/7 gate access and video surveillance, your warm weather ride is always safe and available. Remember the extra day light and warm weather is a great time to enjoy the outdoors, keep your items at a convenient place like Space Mart Self-Storage.

Traditionally, customers utilize storage during the spring to store extra furniture for returning college students, sports gear for the upcoming baseball and softball season, and winter items like sleds, shovels, and Christmas decorations. Others use storage as temporary “holding” during a remodeling phase. If you have sensitive or special item; check with your local manager about climate controlled storage versus standard“drive up” storage.

Space Mart has both climate controlled and pull up storage units available

Simple Springtime Tips and Suggestions:

  1. Pay attention to your trash pick- up schedule. Often, waste management companies will set aside a special pickup day for large items or brush and limbs during spring.
  2. Consider storing old furniture, artwork, Christmas decorations, motorized toys, and collectibles in a climate controlled unit for future use. As a general rule of thumb, if you are not comfortable leaving an item in a hot garage, explore climate control units.
  3. Remember to stop and Smell the Roses. This old saying is true. We don’t want to forget the blooming flowers, natural beauty, and wild life in our own back yard because we are too busy getting ready to enjoy the spring.

Going through closets, the attic and the extra bedroom can be tiresome, but cathartic. Toss out the old and bring in the new. But if you are unsure whether you want to toss out your items, or want to save them for a future yard sale or relative, consider a storage unit to keep your possessions in safe keeping. Give Space Mart Self-Storage a call today, and let us help you enjoy the rest of your spring.
